I watch you sleep, your still form next to me
In the dark of this hour, in peaceful dreams.
Your breasts would rise, slowly, and each breath seems
Like a secret you would hide, now set free.
For just now, doting on your every sigh,
I thought I heard soft echoes of my name.
I strain my ears, hoping to hear those same
Whispers again, and I let my thoughts fly
To those last words that you had said to me,
Just before I blew out the candle’s light
And committed this day to memory.
“Good night,” you smiled. “Sweet dreams ’til morn, sleep tight.”

We are still together, and so I see
Indeed, my sweet Love, this is a good night.
